  Biographical Info

Dr. J Kurt Grovenburg completed his training in Family Practice in 1991. For many years he maintained an active Family Practice including obstetrics, pediatrics, general medicine and held academic teaching positions at New York Medical College and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as a hospital medical director and as a medical director of an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Currently he serves as Deputy Medical Examiner for Ulster County NY. Since 2005, he and his wife, Lucinda Grovenburg MD, have developed a unique, environmentally and patient-friendly practice in the foothills of the Catskills in the Hamlet of Tabasco NY. Dr. Grovenburg has been an active member of the New York Academy of Science and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. He has a keen interest in the impact of toxic and traumatic events, both physical and emotional, on the anterior brain stem. The anterior brain stem influences not only the autonomic nervous system and the neurofascial network, but also the limbic system which is responsible for modulating the higher emotive functions of the brain. Dr. Grovenburg became interested in Neural Therapy as a treatment modality to address the dysregulation of anterior brain stem connections which can manifest as complex illnesses, pain syndromes, and addictive disorders. Working both as a medical examiner and an addictionologist in an area of upstate New York heavily impacted by our nation’s opioid epidemic, Dr Grovenburg has seen firsthand its devastating effect. Many of these patients have become opioid-dependent subsequent to having been treated with opioids for both acute and chronic pain syndromes. Dr Grovenburg has found Neural Therapy to be an especially helpful adjunctive treatment for these patients.
